Welcome to the eBooks guide
What are Ebooks?
Ebooks are a digital copy of a printed book OR an item which is ‘born digital’, i.e. it was produced only as an electronic item. Some are freely available from internet sites, and some titles require a library to purchase a subscription to the books. There are a number of suppliers of Ebooks to libraries.
EBook Library or EBL is one supplier of ebooks to libraries.
The John Kinder Theological Library has purchased access to some of the 1000’s of items available from EBL. These items can be accessed by searching the library catalogue. Anyone may briefly look at the ebook via the catalogue but to have longer access or to download and “borrow” the book, you need to be a registered library member and use your usual user name and password.
On the Kinder Library shelves you will find short cuts to many ebooks – via a QR Code. A QR code reader can be downloaded to your mobile phone or tablet from an app store. See our Using QR Codes page for more information.
