Downloading eBooks

How to set up your PC, laptop, iPhone or tablet to be able to download ebook library titles from Anglicat .

Adobe Digital Editions

To be able to download any EBL ebook onto your device, you need to install software called Adobe Digital Editions. For mobile devices, this is enabled through either Bluefire Reader or Aldiko App, depending on your device.

First register  with Adobe. Go to www.adobe.com  and click on Sign in  at top right and set up an account.

For Apple (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad)
If you are using an Apple device, using a web browser you can download an eBook in PDF or ePub format protected with Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) to the Apple device so long as you have the Bluefire Reader app installed on the device. You can also transfer ebooks to the Bluefire Reader app from Adobe Digital editions.

For Android Devices
If you are using an Android device, using a web-browser you can download an EBL ebook in PDF or ePub format protected with Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) to the Android device as long as you have the Aldiko app or the Bluefire Reader  installed on the device.   There is some debate as to which is the best application.  Reviews can be found by doing a Google search.

Other Readers
If you are using a Sony Reader, Kobo, Nook or other similar electronic ink (E Ink) ebook reader (excluding Kindle) you can transfer an EBL ebook in PDF or ePub format protected with Adobe DRM from Adobe Digital Editions to the ebook reader.  This site will give some help in doing this:

Sony Reader, Kobo eReaders and Nook Ebook Readers use Adobe Digital Editions to transfer ebooks from the computer to the device.

Please note that Kindle readers cannot download the above software and so are unable to be used to access EBL books from Anglicat.

To find eBooks on the Anglicat websites, please see Borrowing eBooks.
